Work for the developers of Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) got a lot harder when Highway Minister, Nitin Gadkari after doing on the spot review of the project stated, that he would be back soon to test the expressway with a cup of tea!
Honorable Minster said, “I will come here again and have my car go at 150 kmph. I will pour tea into a cup to see whether a single drop spills over to assess the quality of work.” ”
He mentioned he had done the same while testing the newly built Mumbai-Pune expressway, “I had done so while sharing the car with the chiefs of L&T and Hindustan Construction Company. I had told them that if a single drop spilled over, I won’t spare anyone.”
Eastern Peripheral Expressway is a 135 km long underdevelopment Delhi bypass, which will provide connectivity between Delhi and the towns of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Greater Noida, Baghpat, and Sonipat.
It is being developed at a cost of 11,000cr and will help decongest NCR by giving trucks and other vehicles an option to bypass Delhi altogether.
On Friday, Nitin Gadkari had visited the EPE construction site to take stock of the ongoing construction.
