Maruti Suzuki today unveiled the 3rd generation Dezire to the media, marking a departure from Swift + boot ideology and instead, coming out with a sedan, which has been designed from the ground up.
The brand new Dezire is a real stunner with the trapezoidal grille adding some much-needed oomph to the front. It is also 40 mm wider and has a 20 mm longer wheelbase, resulting in more room inside the sedan.
As far as the engine is concerned, Maruti has decided to keep things pretty much the same with its tried and tested 1.2-litre K-series Petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS Diesel engines. However, a weight reduction of 85 kg for the petrol and 100 kg for the diesel Dezire means better performance and mileage on the street.
7” touch screen from entertainment system has been borrowed from the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, and it is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
For the 3rd generation Dezire, Maruti will offer dual airbags, seat belt with pre-tensioners, antilock braking system with EBD and Isofix child seats anchor points as standard, resulting in a much safer car.
Booking for the new Dezire will begin in the first week of May, while the car itself would be launched on the 16th of May 2017.
