Motorola India has announced that it is now accepting preorders for their Moto Z2 Play smartphone in India.
While neither the price of the handset nor the launch date has yet been confirmed by Motorola India, you can book the phone for Rs. 2,000 and pay rest of the amount in 10 interest-free EMIs.
Moto Z Play (2nd Generation) was unveiled in the US on the first of June, with the unlocked mobile phone costing US$ 499 (Rs. 32,099) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option.
Moto Z2 Play features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Octa–core processor running at 2.2GHz and Adreno 506 GPU with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (expandable up to 256GB).
It features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and 1080×1920 pixel resolution (401 ppi) and a 12-megapixel camera with f1.7 aperture, phase detection, and laser focus, along with dual LED flash.
The front camera is a 5-megapixel f2.0 aperture unit with duel-LED flash, and while the front camera can only record videos in 1080p resolution, the rear camera is capable of shooting videos in 4k (2160p) resolution.
Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), 3,000mAH battery and USB Type-C connector along with a front fingerprint scanner make up rest of the specs.
However, what makes Moto Z2 Play interesting is the ability to add Moto MODs, which an add various additional feature to the phone, like an optical zoom, high-quality speakers or even a projector.
Having said that,
without divulging a launch date (Moto Z2 will be launched on Thursday, 8th of June) or even a price, and asking for people to book the smartphone is a big gamble and in a way shows the niche Motorola seems to be targeting with the Moto Z2 Play. However, it remains to be seen, whether or not the gamble pays off.
