The timing of a movie often weighs heavy on Producer-Director’s mind. After all, to grab eyeballs and mint money at Box Office, promotions are never enough. The actors may be top notch, story well written, dialogues crispy and direction superb; and yet the movie may flop or be unable to remain on-screen for more than a couple of weeks.
It is never easy to second guess viewers’ response and anticipate a movie’s profit. And, yet the Promoters do all they can, to ensure a full house at first show. To avoid releasing movies on festivals or on dates clashing with Cricket Matches and to create enough gaps between big banners movies, is few of the tactics employed.
However Akshay Roy, Director of the Release of the Day, Meri Pyaari Bindu, seemed to be oblivious of all these hazards. Coming just a fortnight after the Blockbuster Bahubali 2 and colliding headlong into the much awaited, vastly promoted Sarkar 3 of Ram Gopal Verma and Amitabh Bacchan, is our small rom-com.
Parineeti Chopra as a struggling singer, who skips from one city to another, changing boyfriends and projects ever so often.
Ayushmann Khurana as Parineeti (Bindu’s) childhood sweetheart, who craves for only one thing i.e. stability with his Pyaari Bindu.
And, a modern romantic tale with female protagonist in the lead, with heavy dosed dialogues sum up the entire package, Meri Pyaari Bindu has on offer.
Just two hours long, the movie seems an ideal one time watch for movie buffs and for those looking for easy entertainment. However, will it able to compete with the Raging Bachchan in Sarkar 3 and the onslaught of tech savvy Bahubali 2, will be clear only after a few days.
Till then, Parineeti and Ayushmann continue to grove to their fav songs and live their online chemistry off screen.
