The much anticipated, eagerly awaited, controversy bound third part of Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar, has finally seen the light of the day.
Paraded as a Modern Age Mahabharata or Palace Politics, Sarkar was first released in 2005, with Amitabh Bachchan in the powerful role Subhash Nagre, the self acclaimed Sarkar. The movie had been super successful on Box Office. Bachchan was loved for his portrayal of the archetypical local goon, controlling Politicians with his little finger.
Then, in 2008, came the sequel Sarkar Raj, with Abhishekh Bachchan and Aishwaya Rai as central leads, along with a jaded Subhas Nagre in the background. Though successful, Sarkar Raj couldn’t live upto the standards set by the first movie.
In 2012, Ram Gopal Verma announced Sarkar 3. However, for one reason or another, kept postponing the film. And only today, he has finally released the much hyped Sarkar 3.
The movie is set to bring the focus back on Amitabh Bachchan, the original Sarkar. Though, keeping him company is Cheeku, played by Amit Sadh. Those who have seen the first movie, would remember him as Kay Kay Menon’s shy son and Subhash Nagre’s grand son. Yami Gautam is the quintessential female lead of the movie, having a revenge agenda.
The story picks up from where it was left in the earlier two movies, and closely sticks to Godfather like series based crime political thriller.
The movie has been promoted widely by Ram Gopal Verma and Amitabh Bachchan on their twitter handles. The interview between the Director and Actor had already gained much popularity, and so have the moments shared by Bachchan, intermittently.
Though, the movie has today opened to a good response, coming week would actually make it clear whether the viewers loved this installment of the movie. Or has the sheen of Sarkar waned with time. Giving him tough competition is of course, the blockbuster two week old movie Bahubali 2 and just released Rom Com Meri Pyaari Bindu.
