TVS Motor Company has launched TVS Wego and Jupiter scooters with its Sync Braking Technology (SBS), in a bid to ensure better braking performance and stability under harsh braking.
TVS’ Sync Braking System essentially distributes the braking force proportionately to front and rear brake, so that when a rider uses only the rear brake (like most people riding scooters in India do), the front brake is applied as well. Resulting in a much more controlled and shorter braking distance.
SBS is similar to Honda’s Combined Braking System, which Honda has been using in its scooters and motorcycles for past several years.
SBS will be available across all variants of Wego and Jupiter. However, there is no word yet from TVS Motor on whether they have hiked the price of Wego and Jupiter, due to inclusion of Sync Braking System.
All the scooter manufacturers need to come out with similar braking and safety technologies, to ensure two wheeler riders are using their vehicle’s brakes to their full potential and aren’t just using the rear brake, which can effective reduce braking performance of the vehicle drastically in comparison to using both the brakes simultaneously.
