Volkswagen India, today made a reentry into the SUV segment with the launch of Tiguan crossover SUV, starting at Rs. 27.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi.)
Powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TDI diesel engine producing 143 ps at 4,200 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm, Tiguan comes 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Volkswagen Tiguan comes equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rain sensing wipers, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, active hood pedestrian safety, self-sealing tyres, and tyre pressure monitoring system (the latter two being available in Highline variant).
While the Tiguan Comfortline model priced at Rs. 27.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone auto climate control, heated front seats with electric adjust for the driver, heated wing mirrors with electric adjust, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driving mode selector and paddle shifters.
Rs. 31.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) Highline variant adds 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps, Panoramic sunroof with LED surround lighting, illuminated scuff plates, keyless entry and go, easy open boot with one-touch closing function.
Volkswagen is also claiming a mileage of 17.06 kmpl for the Tiguana.
It would be interesting to see how the Tiguan competes with the like of Audi Q3, Mercedes GLA, and BMW X1, which are in somewhat similar price bracket.
